What do you do when your "hobby" or "how you vented" at one time is gone, create a new one?
My Harley was the outlet for years and two years ago I sold it to a guy in California, I'm hoping that he loves it as much as I did. The need for speed has always been here but since last May the "smart" choice to be on another bike just hasn't been there. It's not that I couldn't get back on one and ride 100+ MPH again or take the curves on Thunder Road as fast if not faster than my angel could fly or even sent a new record for the road out of Dexter.
I could. Would it be the smartest choice in the world? Not even, my head isn't in the game, there have been times in my car that I've blanked completely out for 20, 30, 40 miles, drove right past an exit that I have turned on more times than I can count, so for the safty of me and anyone that would be around, a bike isn't the "hobby" of choice right now.
Golf? I did it at one time and was pretty damn good at it, but it doesn't interest me right now.
Puzzles? Oh hell "f'n" no, that would stress me the hell out.
Model Car building? (see puzzle)
Meditation? I can do this, but it's not really something I consider a hobby.
Fishing? I loved it at one time, but that was more because of being able to hang out with my PaPa.
Needle Point? Been there done that, no desire to do it again (btw it was to help reduce smoking)
Smoking? At one time, but now, that doesn't even calm me down.
Drinking? I could do this easy as hell and do sometimes too frequently with no regard to the amount.
Sitting on the back porch? I can do this for about 20 minutes and I begin to feel like I'm a slacker.
Sitting on the front porch? See above only add that I might have to talk to a neighbor.
Grandkids? I don't consider that a hobby, it's a honor, but while it fills me it doesn't eliminate the stress.
Driving? Oh hell yes, this was my second way to unwind after the Harley, but refer to why I don't have a bike and that will answer that question.
Shooting my 9mm? That's always an option, but I'd rather just go out and kill a car but my granny doesn't have her farm anymore with all the old cars sitting around, and it's probably not the wisest choice to just shoot at cars that are on the side of the road.
So, I'll just sit here at Mead's Corner drinking a Latte' contemplating what my "hobby" should be.
In the meantime if you have any suggestions, I'm all ears. (I know right?)
